I’ve just been for a lovely visit with my rheumatologist this week. We discussed genetics and pain and how I shouldn’t be afraid of trying new drugs because “you are very aware of what’s going on with your body” (his words) I was desperate so I let him prescribe Cymbalta…2 doses down and I am having nausea, stomach pain, and headache. Last night I kept having these really sweet muscle jerks that kept waking me up. I think my husband thought I was trying to attack him.
The doctor also asked me if I had gone gluten free yet. (He had told me a long time ago that I should at least try it even though I tested negative for celiac disease) I love wheat! He told me, again, how even though I had tested negative for celiac I could still have gluten intolerance which could increase joint pain. I also have a chronic vitamin D deficiency which he thinks may be linked to all of that. I can already tell I am not going to enjoy going gluten free, at least at first. It is expensive to buy gluten free stuff! From what I am researching, it seems that for packaged food, sauces, etc. if it doesn’t explicitly say Gluten Free you should just assume it does. It is going to be a pain in the butt, but if it helps eventually it WILL be worth it.
